The Decline and Fall of Rome as Proof of Prophetic Fulfillment

"IN THOSE DAYS" & "AT THAT TIME"
(I.E., Jesus' "Age About to Come" - Olam Habo - The New Covenant Age)

  • Jer 3:17At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

  • Jer 4:11At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

  • Jer 8:1At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:

  • Jer 33:15In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

  • Da 12:1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

  • Mic 3:4Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.

  • Zep 1:12And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

  • Zep 3:19Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.

  • Zep 3:20At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.

  • Jer 3:16And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

  • Jer 3:18In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

  • Jer 33:15In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

  • Jer 33:16In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

  • Jer 50:4In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

  • Jer 50:20In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

  • Eze 38:17Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

  • Joe 2:29And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

  • Joe 3:1For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

  • Zec 8:23Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew *, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

AT&T Yahoo! Mail - pilgramjim@yahoo.com

Whether climbing a mountain or writing a book, I have a goal-oriented, accomplish-the-mission attitude toward life, and prayer stops me in my tracks. I learn that I cannot "fix" the people I am praying for. I cannot get everything I want in the time frame I want. I must slow down and wait. I have to present my requests in a manner that seems at first like surrender. I "give them up" to God, and through that act of submission God can at last begin to grow in me the qualities, or "fruit," that I needed all along: peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. The real value of persistent prayer is not so much that we get what we want as that we become the person we should be.

HOW DID JESUS COME IN CLOUDS IN 66-70 A.D.?

HOW DID JESUS COME IN CLOUDS IN 66-70 A.D.?

MF Blume

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
(Mat 24:29-31)

This is one of the questions I personally had to get the answer for when I was ascertaining whether or not my view is the valid and correct interpretation of biblical prophecy. In fact, most people seem to ask this question when confronted with this view for the first time. Surely this prophecy was not fulfilled in 70 AD, people assume.
However, upon careful inspection of the rest of the Bible, we will see that He did indeed come in clouds in 66-70 A.D.
First of all, let me add that Jesus said the High Priest in His day would also see this event occur.

But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven .
(Mat 26:63-64)
Some propose this refers to our future when everyone will see Him come, sinners in hell as well as those in earth. However, this makes no sense. To begin with, how will a soul in hell see the Son of man come to earth in clouds? And Jesus also told this man that he would see Jesus sitting on the right hand of power, or on the throne of God. Now, how in the world would the High Priest personally see Jesus sitting on the throne, if Jesus was in Heaven sitting on the throne? That is the only place His throne is to be found! This is not speaking about judgment day when all stand before Him and are judged after they die, either, because Jesus said the same thing to the disciples, and indicated they would not be dead and neither in heaven nor hell, when they would see this event.
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
(Mat 16:27-28)
These men would not taste death before this event occurred. In other words, they would still be alive. And this cannot refer to spiritual life in their spiritual bodies they will receive in the resurrection, because the resurrection of the body is yet future. And these men did already indeed taste death. But Jesus was referring to His coming judgment that arrived in 66-70 A.D.
How is this possible? How can He be said to have come in clouds in 66-70 A.D.?
Many, many times God used the thought of being in clouds when He indicated He would come in judgment against a people. And this is not some mystical interpretation of Scripture akin to witchcraft and gnosticism. HAd we looked elsewhere besides the Bible, itself, to find these references, then it might be said to be "mystical". However, we are looking to the rest of the Bible to allow the Bible to interpret itself!
David described the time he cried to God when in trouble from his persecutors.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
(2Sa 22:7)
And look at God's response:
Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind. And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled. The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
(2Sa 22:8-14)
God came in judgment against his enemies! David said God came with darkness beneath His feet and thick clouds of the skies were like pavilions or tabernacles around Him. And He rode upon a cherub.
Did David physically see these things? Of course not! But david was inspired of God to describe God's judgment on his persecutors as a coming in clouds. This was a well-known picture of God in the minds of Old Testament adherents. In fact, the high priest knew very well that Jesus was saying he was God when He informed the priest that the man would see Christ come in clouds! He knew Jesus was telling him that Christ was correct and was Son of God, and would come in judgment to destroy Jerusalem in his day!

But to have the Spirit is to have the Son

When we put all these statements together, it should be clear that the coming of the Comforter is none other than the coming of the Lord in the Spirit.
Several commentators have remarked on this wonderful truth. Leon Morris said, “He [Jesus] comes in the coming of the Spirit.” A.B. Simpson said, “The coming of the Comforter is just the coming of Jesus himself to the heart.” And Watchman Nee affirmed the same: “This Comforter, Who is the Holy Spirit, is just the Christ that will dwell in you.” The Spirit did not come as the Son’s replacement or representative, but as the Son himself in his spiritual form. And R.C. Moberly remarked, “It is not for an instant that the disciples are to have the presence of the Spirit instead of having the presence of the Son. But to have the Spirit is to have the Son.”

Not all exegetes will agree with the interpretation presented above, especially those who do their utmost to distinguish the persons of the Trinity. Yet it must be admitted that according to Christian experience, there is no distinguishable difference between the experience of Christ and the experience of the Spirit. The two are one and the same. Paul’s practical theology affirms this (see Rom. 8:9-11; 1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17-18), and so does John’s (see 7:37-39; 16:11-13; 20:22). The unity between Jesus and the Spirit is essential to the proper interpretation of the Lord’s last discourse, and specifically to the verses (16-18) we have been discussing. One final citation, from Eric L. Titus, certifies this view

Heaven and Earth Shall Pass Away

"HEAVEN AND EARTH SHALL PASS AWAY"
By Evangelist John L. Bray

but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35).

It has been generally believed that Jesus here meant that even though these physical heavens and earth will pass away some day, that is not true about His word which will never pass away. Whether this physical earth and solar system ever passes away is not the point in this chapter. There is more to this statement of Jesus than meets the eye. Jesus has been talking in apocalyptic language, and heaven and earth passing away could mean here just what He has been talking about - that the heaven and earth of the old Jewish order will pass away, and that His word concerning all this is sure to come to pass.

At first glance, it looks as though Jesus was simply saying in this verse, "My words will be here when the world has passed away" But is the physical world or universe what Jesus had in mind? Was a literal heaven and earth in His thoughts? Remember now, what Jesus had been talking about - what He had already said in this chapter would pass away. We have been discussing the passing away of the Jewish nation, and the old religious order of things.

Go back to Matthew 5:18 and see where Jesus said, "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" Here He said that the law would not pass away until what? Until two other things passed away. What were they? First, "Till heaven and earth pass;" and, secondly, "till all (the law) be fulfilled." We know the law was fulfilled in Christ, and all prophecies relating to Israel fulfilled by 70 A.D. We all realize that because of this all the law was now over. But how could this be, when "heaven and earth" had not passed away, for Jesus said "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law"? Maybe we can understand this better if we realize He was not talking about the literal heaven and earth, but something else. Something else would have to pass away before it could be said that the law was not still in effect.

In the New Testament especially, the destruction of heaven and earth refers not to the physical universe, but rather it relates to the final passing of the disobedient nation of Israel. All would be fulfilled, every jot and tittle, when heaven and earth passed away. (Matt. 5:18).

We have to go to the Old Testament to see what "heaven and earth" means in prophetic language.

In Deuteronomy 32:1, in the song of Moses, God is talking to Israel when He says: "Give ear, 0 ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, 0 earth, the words of my mouth"
In the song of Moses, God is depicting the fate of Israel when He says: "For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains" (vs. 22).

Grace Not Law

2 Cor 3:6  Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

7  But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

2 Cor 3:13  And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

14  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

The Thousand Years of Revelation 20

It is my contention that present Christian teaching concerning the last things relies too much on the belief of a future earthly millennial kingdom. Therefore, it may be profitable to see whether the idea that the thousand years mentioned by John refers to a future kingdom is consistent with what the NT , and Revelation in particular, teaches on Satan’s binding, the resurrection and the reign of the saints. Additionally, we should explore the clues provided by Revelation’s literary framework, style and structure, as those arising from the biblical use of the expression "one thousand years".

1. On whether there is chronological continuity between Revelation 19 and 20

Fundamental to a belief on a wholly future earthly millennial kingdom is the assumption of a chronological continuity between the visions of Chapter 19 and those of Chapter 20; that is, the defeat of the beast, the kings of the earth and their armies is temporally followed by Satan’s binding and the coming to life and reign of beheaded saints. However, that this is the case is by no means obvious. Most students of Revelation have long ago noticed that while in each vision there is some kind of orderly intensification (the seals, the trumpets, the vials), there are also discontinuities among them, as if each series of visions showed at least partially overlapped events.

From written records, we learn that the first to point out this characteristic feature of Revelation was the millennarian Church Father, Victorinus bishop of Pettau (who died ca. 304). At the end of his remarks on Ch. 7 he wrote, concerning the similarities between the seals, the trumpets and the bowls: "We must not regard the order of what is said, because frequently the Holy Spirit, when He has traversed even to the end of the last times, returns again to the same times, and fills up what He had [before] failed to see. Nor must we look for order in the Apocalypse; but we must follow the meaning of those things which are prophesied." (Commentary on the Apocalypse; in A. Roberts & J. Donaldson, Ed., The Antenicene Fathers; Repr. 1989, Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 7:352). In other words, the Seer from Patmos leads us time and again from the beginning to the end of salvation history, in several partially paralel sections that follow a pattern of repetition with elaboration. This approach, later called recapitulation, is one of the keys for understanding Revelation.

Most interpreters from different schools agree that there is an evident discontinuity between Chapters 11 and 12: From the apparent end ushered by the seventh trumpet we are unexpectedly carried back to the time before Jesus Christ’s birth. Now, we can find clues that allows us to delineate seven sections in the book:

The Lord's Day

Zec 14:6  On that day the sources of light will no longer shine,

7  yet there will be continuous day! Only the LORD knows how this could happen! There will be no normal day and night, for at evening time it will still be light.  Zec 14:8,9; Jer 23:20; Mat 24:50,51; Rev 3:3; Isa 30:26;Ho 3:5.

2 Cor 3:17   Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Joh 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

1Co 15:45 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

46  However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual

In This Generation

I think when Christ is speaking of that generation, he was speaking of the descendant of Adam. Not born again. Flesh and Blood will not inherit the kingdom of God.  In Adam all die, In Christ all live.

Mat 12:34  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Mat 23:33-36 in context it is Plain that Jesus was speaking of the children of the serpent.)

Ezek 12:28  "Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,"'" declares the Lord GOD.

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Mt 24:48 "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a long time,'

49  and shall begin to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards;

50  the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know,

51  and shall cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; weeping shall be there and the gnashing of teeth.

1 Th 5:2:For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.

3  While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4  But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief;
Rev 3: 3  Go back to what you heard and believed at
first; hold to it firmly and turn to me again. Unless you do, I will come upon you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.

Remember, Jesus also said it was the "evil servant" who says "My Lord delayeth his coming" (Mt. 24:48-51).

(I believe that the Word Generation as it is use above, is referring to the sons of the serpent, or us before we were born again.  We are being made anew or regenerated by taking refuge in our Lord and walking after the Spirit.  Putting off the old man and putting on the new.  Where ever the old man is. Then we are in danger of judgment.)

Luke 17:37  And answering they said^ to Him, "Where, Lord?" And He said to them, "Where the body is, there also will the vultures be gathered."

New Jerusalem - The New City

1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Joel 3:20  But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

21  For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

Isa 1:19  If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

20  But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Isa 40:4  Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

5  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Isa 58:14  Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Harvest, the End of the Age- Put on the New, Put off the Old

(The Gathering - Born again- Performing His Word .-Day of the Lord.)
Like in Thess 4:13-18  Verses 16-17  the dead in Christ will rise” that is the old testment saints and those that die while we are still alive, no matter what generation we are in after Christ died on the cross “saying it was finished” and rose and accended to the Father. and is ruleing and reining now and forever, from one generation to another.  When we are born again we are being caught up with Christ, our life is hid in Him, to be forever with the Lord.  The day of the Lord cometh as a thief in the night, “The day that the righteous are gathered is called the ‘day of the Lord’
This is the Day of judgement and gathering of the righteous and wicked or putting off the old man, and putting on the new.

Thus, we have confirmation that the 'last day', also called the day of the Lord, is a day of judgment upon the wicked, as well as a gathering of the righteous to meet the Lord in the air. For confirmation of this fact, John 12:48 reads, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

"Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

Mt 13:49 "So it will be at the end of the age; the angels shall come forth, and take out the wicked from among the righteous, ( The end of the age that He was talking was the Old Coverent, Now we are in the New Covenant , by the Messiah , the coverant of grace and the fullfilling of the promises to Israel ).

50  and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

51  "Have you understood all these things?" They said^ to Him, "Yes."

Coming in the Clouds

Being Transformed

When Jesus was speaking, he said  you shall see me again.  Christ's "coming on the clouds" is from the Old Testament portrayals of God descending from heaven and coming in power and glory to execute judgment on ancient wicked nations and cities, and in deliverance of His people.

These judgments were acts of God described in figurative language. See Link to Zechariah 14 and the Coming of Christ by Gary DeMar.  They brought calamity upon a nation or peoples who had come against God's chosen people.  We can read about several of God's many comings in judgment, often termed "the day of the Lord all through the Bible like The deliverance from Egypt, the destruction and judgment upon nations and people.  Taking His people through the wildness.
The Old Testament is for our example. If you keep this is mind, you can see how God is working with us today. And what Jesus was referring to when He was speaking to others about "you shall see me coming in the clouds" and the other terminology that used in the Old Testament, speaking of judgment and deliverance.

Christ the End of the Law

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."—Romans 10:4.

OU REMEMBER we spoke last Sabbath morning of "the days of the Son of man." Oh that every Sabbath now might be a day of that kind in the most spiritual sense. I hope that we shall endeavour to make each Lord's Day as it comes round a day of the Lord, by thinking much of Jesus by rejoicing much in him, by labouring for him, and by our growingly importunate prayer, that to him may the gathering of the people be. We may not have very many Sabbaths together, death may soon part us; but while we are able to meet as a Christian assembly, let us never forget that Christ's presence is our main necessity, and let us pray for it and entreat the Lord to vouchsafe that presence always in displays of light, life and love!

endtimespirit : Message: He reigns now with all power in heaven and in earth

endtimespirit : Message: He reigns now with all power in heaven and in earth: "Rev 3:21: The final promise to the overcomer is a promise of dominion with Christ: I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My Throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His Throne. Is this only a future hope? Assuredly not. The privi- lege of ruling with Christ belongs to all Christians, in time and on earth, although the dominion is progressive through history until the final consummation. But Christ has entered upon His Kingdom already (Col. 1:13); He has disarmed Satan and the demons already "
